How to unclog shower head holes and increase water pressure

You will surely have noticed that the pressure of the water coming out of the shower head is always lower, perhaps attributing the phenomenon to a problem that affects the entire house or condominium.

In reality, most of the time this problem is caused by the accumulation of limescale between the holes in the shower head. Some of these holes even end up completely blocked, preventing the water from escaping.

Fortunately, it is possible to solve this problem with some DIY tricks which, in addition to cleaning the surface of the shower head, allow us to unclog the holes and return to having optimal water pressure.

To clean a fixed shower head:

Fill a plastic bag halfway with vinegar.
Place the shower head in the plastic bag and secure it with a tie.
Leave the shower head to soak overnight.
The next morning, remove the bag and scrub the shower head with a toothbrush.
Finally, open the tap and let the water run for a few minutes.
Vinegar is one of the most effective ingredients for eliminating mineral residues which are the main cause of clogging of shower head holes.

To clean a removable shower head:

Remove it from its place and place it under running water, but upside down (the holes must face the water jet).
Rinse until surface residues of limescale and dirt are removed.
Soak the shower head in a container full of vinegar overnight.
The next day, scrub with a toothbrush, then rinse it as done in point 1.
Now that you know how to unblock the holes in the shower head, try applying this method immediately to return to having satisfactory water pressure.
